Armenia
Armenia is one of the oldest coutries in the world, with a recorded history of over 3500 years and the first country to have accepted Christianity as its national religion.
The first significant state of the Armenian Highland was the highly advanced Kingdom of Ararat. More than one and a half million Armenians, eighty percent of the country's population, perished in the first Genocide of the 20th Century.
“On a trip to Armenia, I was mesmerized and overwhelmed by the culture, colour, history, beauty, the friendliness of its people and the authenticity of its cuisine. The churches left me with an unforgettable memory of this ancient land. In order to have this trip engraved in my mind, I created these paintings of the land of my ancestors.”
